What Makes Us Special
We believe that everything at Scallywags is special but some things are particularly unique to us, such as;
Our Amazing Outdoor Space – Scallywags Westwick is set in over four acres of privately owned land. Girton nursery, access this outdoor space on a regular basis giving all the children in our care excellent opportunity to explore and play in a natural environment.
Scallywags is an Accredited Forest School – the first place in Cambridgeshire to have such an honour and proudly displays a wooden plaque, commissioned in 2014 by the Green Light Trust in recognition of the nursery’s outstanding commitment to delivering Forest School every day.
Scallywags, Westwick has its own bespoke ‘on site’ Forest School - set amongst over four acres of beautiful countryside, our Forest School area hosts a pretty wooded area, log stools arranged to form a ‘story telling circle’ and a purpose built mud kitchen taking pride of place.
Scallywags has trained Forest School Leaders - our leaders have all achieved level 2 in Forest School leadership, and Caroline, the most experienced leader is now a level 3 – the highest level of Forest School training. All are totally passionate about bringing nature to life for the children, as they get involved in some healthy, physical activity.
Scallywags Pre-school – our Pre-school department is run by experienced and highly qualified staff. The children quickly flourish and learn the necessary skills and confidence to be fully prepared for ‘big school’. We work closely with many local schools and the feedback given is - Scallywags is great!
Scallywags Animals - our animals have been delighting children for over 15 years. We have a variety of animals such as chickens, sheep, goats, ducks and rabbits.
